Lamination is the fastest growing product in our industry today, but what do you do if something does not turn out perfectly? Did you know that you can solve the most common Lamination glitches yourself without having to call for service? Here are our top 6 solutions:
1. Horizontal wavy lines across your output
It looks like you’ve brought the ocean to your document. These wavy lines are caused by excessive front roller pressure. Simply loosen the front roller pressure and the problem will be ‘washed away’.
2. Concave waves
Nobody likes curves in their lamination. For this problem you will need to order new rollers for your machine as this is a sign of warped feed rollers.
3. Angled waves on one side
The right side doesn’t know what the left is doing. Whatever side the waves are on (i.e. the right side), is the side you will need to adjust. Simply tighten the rear roller pressure on that side (right or left) and your document will look like new.
4. Angled waves on both sides
Your machine is clearly having some issues holding on to the document. You need to tighten the rear roller pressure to accommodate the thick stock you are laminating.
5. Foggy output
The weatherman said nothing about fog this morning! If your document comes out foggy, hazy or dirty looking, it is because your lamination did not have a proper opportunity to adhere itself to the document. You can resolve this by doing one (or both) of the following: increase your heat or slow down your speed. This gives the lamination more time to do its thing.
6. Not Sticking
*Tap, tap, tap* Is this thing on? If your film is not adhering it could mean that you need more heat, a slower speed, it needs time to cure/rest for the lamination to get a really good grip on the document, or you need a lamination film with extra glue to really stick (usually the case if you have full colour bleeds). SuperStick film guaranteed to stick to anything!
