When Should you Call a Service Technician?

You take your car to the mechanic regularly in order for it to run smoothly. The same rule applies to your office equipment. It needs to be properly maintained to give you the highest quality and fastest output. A lot of times people only call on a service technician when something breaks down. However, you should get your machines serviced every 6-12 months (depending on usage). This will prolong their life and save you money in the long run. Here are some of the services that should be done to your machines at least every year:

 

Power Punches & Combo Machines:

  • Remove the cover
  • Inspect, clean & lubricate the machine
  • Check for proper cycling
  • Check for proper punch depth & pattern
  • Adjust locking arms where necessary
  • Inspect foot pedal or control

 

Roll Laminators – Hot:

  • Inspect & Clean
  • Inspect and pull rollers
  • Check Nip
  • Check & adjust tension
  • Evaluate heat consistency with remote thermometer
  • Remove side covers & inspect/lubricate switches
  • Inspect timing chain
  • Inspect wiring & connections on power switch & heating elements

 

Roll Laminators – Cold & Wide Format:

  • Inspect & Clean
  • Inspect and pull rollers
  • Check Nip
  • Check & adjust tension
  • Remove side covers & inspect/lubricate switches
  • Inspect timing chain
  • Inspect wiring & connections on power switch

 

Paper Cutter:

  • Remove top cover
  • Inspect, clean & lubricate the machine
  • Inspect cutting length
  • Inspect squareness of back gauge
  • Calibrate machine
  • Blade change / sharpening

 

Folder:

  • Remove top cover
  • Inspect, clean & lubricate the machine
  • Check & adjust tension
  • Evaluate heat consistency with remote thermometer
  • Remove side covers & inspect/lubricate switches
  • Inspect timing chain
