Regardless of why you’re interested in getting a wire binding machine chances are that you will use the machine for much more than what you first purchased it to do. It opens up a whole new world of possibilities and you’ll never have to put documents together with a paper clip, stapler or bulldog clip again.
But what many wire binding machines buyers don’t realize is that the machine’s pitch, or hole pattern ratio, can determine which sorts of documents the machine can bind.
The pitch is determined by how many holes per inch are punched into the margin of the document. The two most common pitches for wire binding machines are 3:1 and 2:1, meaning three holes per inch and two holes per inch.
3:1 Pitch Wire Binding Machines
The 3:1 pitch is the most common hole pattern mainly due to the tighter look that comes from having more loops. That makes the 3:1 pitch most popular for presentations and proposals.- Comes with 32 loops to bind an 11-inch binding edge

2:1 Pitch Wire Binding Machines
If you are binding documents over 9/16” thick, a 2:1 pitch binding machine is the one for you. The wider hole pattern of a 2:1 machine makes it better suited for binding the increased number of pages in thicker documents. The fewer holes makes it easier to insert the binding wire and makes it easier to turn the pages of the document.- Available in 22 loop and 21 loop (based on 11” binding edge) depending on how large or small you want the side margins

- Available in sizes ranging from: 5/8” – 1 ¼”
