When you are a small start-up, you can’t afford to hire someone designated to only do one task, and without a steady revenue, you cannot afford the robust equipment to handle everything customers are throwing your way. So your solution is to find someone else who can do it. Better to do that and not make as much money on the job then lose the customer/job completely.
So the question is, now that your business is succeeding and you have good revenue, why are you still following the same principal by outsourcing? You might think that it is easier and/or cheaper, but that’s where you are wrong. No matter what Industry you are or what the job is, here are three reasons why you should stop outsourcing:
-
Time:
Step 1: You get a job
-
Money:
Do you really think it’s cheaper to outsource it? Even though they add a mark-up on top of what they do and then you need to add a mark-up on top of that? Not to mention the money you are paying someone to pack up the job, the cost of the transportation company to ship it to and from (and if you are lucky enough to just be able to “walk it over” you are still paying that person who is walking). You could turn around and say that the cost of the equipment needed is more than it is to outsource, but you have to take into account how many more of those jobs you can do once you have the equipment needed. Plus, with financing plans, you don’t have to pay for the equipment right up front. And with the higher mark-up you can now add to the job because you are not outsourcing it, you will pay off that equipment in no time!
-
Quality:
Remember that scenario in point one where you sent out the job only to have it come back with poor quality? By doing the job in house you can inspect it every step of the way. No more finding out at the 11th hour that the job needs to be re-run because of quality issues. Plus with our expert Account Managers, we can show you how to use your equipment to get the best quality product.
