Fuel Tags are a form of ID tags that increase awareness of flammable liquids by easily identifying by shape or colour. Each fuel type has a different standard as designated by the Canadian Petroleum Products Institute or CPPI, which we will go through below:
Gasolines:
These tags are hexagonal in shape and designate gasolines such as Super Premium, Premium, Mid-Grade and Regular. These tags come in two sizes, small (2.5”) or Large (4”)
Mid-Distillates:
These tags are round in shape and designate middle distillates such as Diesel, Stove Oil, Furnace, and Kerosene. These tags come in two sizes, small (2.5”) or Large (4”)
Aviation Fuels:
These tags are square in shape and distinguish such as Aviation Gasolines such as Avgas 100LL, Avgas 100 and Avgas 80. These tags come in two sizes, small (2.5”) or Large (4”)
Solvents:
These tags are a triangle shape and designate solvents such as Methanol. These tags come in one size which is small (2.5”).
Heavy Fuel Oil:
These tags are a pentagon shape and designate heavy fuels oils such as Bunker C Fuel Oil. These tags come in one size which is small (2.5” x 2.75”).
Chemicals:
These tags are a diamond shape and designate chemicals such as Denatured Ethanol. These tags come in one size which is small (2.75”).
Lubes:
These tags are a flat sided oval shape and designate lubricates such as Galena 17 RD 40l. These tags come in one size which is small (2.75” x 1.5”).
All of the above Fuel Tags are made of 55 gauge poly material, and are printed 2 sided with a hole for hanging pre-drilled into them. Some even have the option of being Bilingual. The colour the tags are printed in will depend on the type of fuel and whether it contains a mix of fuels. In addition to Fuel Tags, there are also Fuel Box Inserts which are 33” x 5.5” in size, rectangular in shape and printed 1 or 2 sided on 35 gauge poly.
